Evaluation of shear strength parameters of sustainable utilization of scrap tires derived geo-materials for civil engineering applications

The devastation caused by the illegal dumping and burning of tires has been staggering. In civil engineering, using engineering properties become a major concern. For this investigation, research used locally sourced tire chips sand. Using sand as an alternative backfill material requires less pressure more improved than traditional backfill. Four specimens were utilized in experiment: pure mixtures containing 20%, 30%, 40% chips, respectively. Both Direct Shear Triaxial Apparatus, two most important geotechnical tools, to compare evaluate shear soil chips. 50, 100, 150 kPa Confining normal stress have maintain consistent level. apparatus had circular shape with area 16.62 cm 2 height 7.2 diameter 3.2 cm. stress-strain behavior both apparatuses under ordinary loading deviatoric was reported. angles internal friction (Φ′) cohesion (c′) measured for equipment without failure planes direct triaxial tests tests, 30% exhibit best results, addition may significantly improve toughness soil.
